Rethinking the Global Economy – How Micro Industries will Facilitate the Shift to a Circular Economy
The founders of the Lean philosophy and techniques in achieving organisational excellence noted that organisations are often most efficient and lean when they first form. As they grow waste creeps in and efficiency and agility reduce. To achieve a circular economy where recycling, reuse and energy optimisation play a major role, a shift is required to smaller more localised manufacturing/value creation. This plenary session explores the shift from global economy of scale focused manufacturing to localised smaller operations, reviewing the benefits which can be achieved for the organisation and environment.
